RSS feeds and Search Tools

Although I didn’t create an account, I did explore some of the search tools and located several feeds. I visited some of my favorite websites to see if I could find the newsfeed and videofeed icons.

The first website was hamptonroads.com, which I was disappointed in. The RSS newsfeed icon was not on the homepage. Instead, I drilled down from the email/wireless alerts link to video feeds, and then at the bottom of the page found RSS feeds. The search was very clumsy so I had to fumble my way through it.

The second website was philly.com which was very user friendly. On the homepage there was an RSS index button which took me to “Favorite RSS feeds” (my yahoo); “All RSS feeds” (on Philly.com); “Philly Talks” (all writers and experts); and “Q&A”.

The third website was ABCNews.com which is also very user friendly. At the top of the homepage is a “Top Headlines” RSS button and a “Watch Video” RSS button. When you go to the top headlines there are numerous feed icons such as Yahoo, Newsgator, Netvibes, Google, etc.
