The Use of Blogging by Libraries

I believe the use of blogging by libraries is a wonderful tool for exchanging information with a target audience, particularly our new techno generation. Traditionally, libraries had the reputation of being boring and stuffy. But, blogging enables librarians of all different ages to exchange ideas, review books, or call attention to their age group’s interests.

Blogging also enables a library to market itself affordably. Program listings can always be current, relaying changes quickly. Gifts and sponsorships can be acknowledged which can get other community organizations involved. Also, new residents to the community can see what is happening in their neighborhood.
